Getting started

Is KeepItHalal only for Muslims?+

No. Muslims come first in how we build it, but anyone who shares our values of modesty, intention, and respect is welcome.

Who is KeepItHalal for?+

Single adults (18+) looking for a serious relationship rooted in faith and family values. We're built for marriage, not casual dating.

How is this different from other Muslim apps?+

Most apps push photos first. We hide them for the first three days so you get to know a person, not a face. Verification is mandatory. There are no boost auctions.

How do I sign up?+

Create an account, complete a short profile, verify your identity, and you're matching the same day. The whole process takes about 8 minutes.

Anonymous chat & reveal

What does 'anonymous' mean here?+

For the first three days of any chat: no photos, no real names, no socials. After three days, if you both tap reveal, you finally see each other.

Can I talk to more than one person at a time?+

No. KeepItHalal is built for marriage, not parallel chats. You can only have one active match at a time. Skip the current one to free up your queue.

What if one of us doesn't want to reveal?+

Nothing happens. You can keep chatting anonymously or end the conversation. No one is shown to anyone without mutual consent.

Can I send voice notes during anonymous chat?+

Yes, voice notes are allowed from day two. Photos and video stay hidden until reveal.

Verification & safety

How does verification work?+

You take a short selfie video and upload a government ID. Real humans review it. Verification photos are encrypted and never shown to matches.

Why is verification mandatory?+

It's the single biggest filter against catfish, bots, and married users. No verified profile, no matching. Full stop.

What if someone tries to ask for my number?+

Our moderation quietly blocks phone numbers, emails, and social handles in early chat. You can also report any user in one tap.

How do you handle reports?+

Real humans (not just AI) review every report within hours. Zero-tolerance policy on harassment, deception, or off-platform pressure.

Wali & family

Can I add a Wali to my chat?+

Yes — for everyone, free. Invite a chaperone into a shared, view-only chat thread at any time. They see everything; they can't post.

Does my Wali need an account?+

Yes — a free Wali-only account. They tap the link in your invite email, install the app (Add to Home Screen on iPhone, Install app on Android), and sign in. No profile, no swiping, no notifications about other matches.

Can I remove my Wali later?+

Yes, anytime, in one tap. They lose access immediately.

Does my Wali see every conversation I have?+

No. Access is granted per conversation. When you start chatting with someone, you choose whether to share that specific thread with your Wali — others stay private. You can revoke a single conversation without removing them as your Wali overall.

What can my Wali actually do in a shared chat?+

Read-only observe. They can see messages, the 3-day countdown and reveal status. They cannot send messages, react, reveal photos, request matches, see other profiles, or take any action on your account. The brother on the other side cannot block or refuse a Wali.

Who can invite a Wali?+

Only sisters can nominate a Wali. The brother in the conversation doesn't need to consent and can't decline — once the Wali accepts your invite, they're automatically added to the conversations you've chosen to share.

How do I request Wali access on a new conversation?+

Open the chat, tap the Wali chip at the top, and choose which Wali to share it with. They'll get a notification and the thread appears in their Wali inbox as read-only straight away.

How long does a Wali invite link last?+

30 days from the moment you send it. After that the link expires for security and the Wali will see a clear 'expired' screen with a button to ask you for a fresh link.

My Wali says the invite link expired — how do I send a new one?+

Either wait for the in-app notification ('Your Wali needs a new invite link') and tap it, or open Settings → Wali, find their entry, and tap 'Resend invite'. A fresh 30-day link will be emailed to them; the old one stops working immediately.

Can I renew or extend a Wali invite before it expires?+

Yes. In Settings → Wali, tap 'Resend invite' on a pending nominee at any time. This issues a new 30-day link and supersedes the previous one — useful if they lost the email.

What if my Wali already has the app for another sister?+

They can be Wali for more than one sister at the same time. Each conversation appears separately in their Wali inbox, labelled by sister, and they remain read-only on every thread.

Can my Wali screenshot or download the chat?+

No downloads, no copy from images, and screenshot attempts are flagged to moderation. The chat is for observation, not redistribution.

Pricing & extras

Is there a subscription?+

No. KeepItHalal has no subscription. Profiles, matching, the 3-day anonymous chat, reveal and messaging are free for everyone.

What do I pay for?+

Only three things: skips (extra 'leave this match' actions), 24-hour profile boosts, and vetting. Brothers pay for vetting tiers; sisters buy vetted-potential intro packs.

Do I get anything free on signup?+

Yes. New members get 1 free skip and 1 free 24-hour boost each month. Unused skips and boosts reset each month — nothing rolls over.

What if I buy a skip and the match was off-brief?+

Report them in chat. Verified reports refund the skip back to your balance.

Do you take a fee if I get married?+

No. We don't take any cut, fee, or referral on success. We only earn from skips, boosts and vetting.

Privacy & data

What about my privacy?+

Verification photos are encrypted at rest. Chats are private. We don't sell your data, ever.

Will my profile be visible on Google?+

No. Profiles are inside the app, not on the public web. Search engines can't index them.

What happens to my data if I delete my account?+

Profile, photos, and chat history are deleted within 30 days. Anonymised analytics may be retained as legally required.

Account & support

How do I delete my account?+

Settings → Account → Delete. One confirmation, done. You'll get an email receipt.

How do I pause matching without deleting?+

Settings → Account → Pause. Your profile is hidden until you turn it back on. Your matches and chats stay.

How do I contact support?+

Email hello@keepithalal.app or use the Contact page. We reply within 24 hours, every day.

Non-Muslims welcome

Can non-Muslims join KeepItHalal?+

Yes — respectfully. KeepItHalal is designed for Muslims seeking marriage guided by Islamic values, and we welcome non-Muslims who are sincerely open to that framework: people considering converting, or those genuinely interested in marrying a practising Muslim. Everyone is held to the same standard of intention and respect.

Is this platform a good fit for me?+

It's a fit if you (a) are genuinely interested in practising Muslims and seeking a life partner within the faith framework, (b) are sincerely considering converting to Islam, or (c) respect Islamic values and are open to faith-led dialogue. It is not a fit for casual dating or curiosity-only browsing.

What should I expect as a non-Muslim member?+

A respectful, faith-centred environment. Conversations are expected to follow Islamic etiquette. Matches and relationships are built around faith, values, and family. Everyone here is marriage-minded, not looking to casually date.

Where can I start learning about Islam?+

Visit your local mosque or Islamic centre — most welcome visitors. Read the Qur'an with a trusted translation and commentary. Speak with Muslims you trust and ask thoughtful questions. Attend community lectures, classes, or talks online for an introduction to core beliefs and values.

Do I need to convert before joining?+

No. You can join if you are seriously open to and respectful of Islamic values. Many members are at different stages — exploring, learning, or already on a path. Be honest about where you are in your profile so matches can decide for themselves.

How do I get in touch before joining?+

Use the Contact page to send us a note. Tell us a little about yourself and what you'd like to know — we reply within 2 working days.

Still stuck? We're here.

Real humans, 24-hour replies, no chatbots. Whatever you need - pricing, safety, technical, or just curious - we'll get back.
